Friday 10th February – Jokes at the Folk, A brand new comedy night!
Jokes at the Folk is a brand new comedy night, bringing some of the best acts on the UK comedy circuit to the Folk Hall in York! Come and join us for a special Comedy Night here at the New Earswick Folk Hall!
The first show is on Friday 10th February with the fabulously funny Mike Newall headlining as well as other fantastic acts performing for your entertainment.
Mike has performed all over the country, including 3 shows at the Edinburgh Fringe which the Scotsman newspaper called “perfectly crafted” and “pin sharp.” He’s supported the likes of Alun Cochrane on tour, and won praise for his “off-beat, clever observations” (The Edinburgh Reporter) and his “well-crafted jokes” (Three Weeks).
Fiona Ridgwell is a regular at London’s Comedy Store and a presenter on BT Sport’s DIY Pundit. She’s been a finalist in the prestigious Funny Women competition, following in the footsteps of Katherine Ryan and Sara Pascoe. She was also nominated for Best Debut Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival.
Ant Dewson is a comedy writer for BBC Radio 4 and Sky TV. He performs on BBC Radio London and at the best comedy clubs in the UK, from The Stand in Edinburgh to Up The Creek and Angel in London. Tom Robinson from BBC 6 Music called him “the highlight of the night.”
Jon Pearson was named Midlands Compère of the Year in both 2021 and 2022. He also won Best Improv/Music Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival. Jon’s done sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Nottingham Comedy Festival and was one of the stars of Black Label on BBC Radio 4.
